Overview
Main daily contact for 10+ suppliers - regularly working with suppliers across UK and Europe to ensure smooth delivery of car parts in line with Just-In-Time processes. Responsible for the inventory management of over 100 car parts. Regularly involved in projects with other departments across the organisation. Had opportunity to visit multiple supplier sites across the UK to ensure processes are in line with TMUK safety standards.
Skills
Digital skills - learnt how to use Microsoft PowerApps & PowerPlatforms Project management - learnt how to work together in a project team and coordinate activities to achieve project objectives within a set deadline Communication - developed strong written and verbal communication skills through regularly presenting projects and liaising with suppliers. Organisation - learnt how to manage my own time and schedule in alignment with other colleagues'
Responsibilities
Felt like I was given lots of responsibility from the start of my placement and at times where I felt like I was not being challenged, I was able to communicate this and management responded well by offering me more opportunities/projects to get involved with.
Support & Guidance
Had a weekly 1-2-1 with my manager. Was also assigned a mentor of a similar age from a different department which was good to have someone to talk to outside of the department. Had support network of other placement students and graduates
Culture
Positive working environment - large emphasis on working together and supporting each other. General atmosphere - everyone at factory very friendly and welcoming. Always felt included, could be more diverse.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed my placement - feel like it has been very beneficial both for me going back into final year at university and I also feel much more confident about entering the graduate labour market after university having been in full-time work for a year.
