    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • It varied. I had many responsibilities that I carried out regularly, however there didn’t seem to be much pressure or weight on the importance of them. Often work we received was admin related task to aid the higher ups, as opposed to the interesting projects that managers and the wider team were involved in.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Lots of support, had direct line managers as a first contact, however they were overseas so never met them so was hard to develop a connection and get strong experience. Had a supervisor who was local who became the main contact and did the most to try and get more interesting work and involvement in key tasks.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I did enjoy my placement. I massively developed my soft transferable skills more than the hard industry relevant skills from the role, but I met lots of new people and gained experience of an industry I was very unfamiliar with. I would definitely go back if an opportunity presented itself as I believe signing on as a graduate allows you to be involved in more important work.

  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Cummins
  • The process is relatively simple. Just be yourself and genuine. If this comes across they are more worried about personality and your fit into the team over credentials.
