Overview
My role was to aid with the relaunch of the commemorative plaque scheme. On a day-to-day basis, I undertook desk-based research tasks, attended in-person and online meetings with the Comms team and other team members. I also wrote biographical pieces and blog posts.
Skills
I have developed my research skills and have learnt new skills in social media content creation and using applications such as Canva, and in historical writing for broad audiences.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given responsibility for the tasks I undertook and for liaising with other team members. I had weekly meetings to update on progress.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance from my manager and other team members when undertaking different tasks and learning new skills. I was made to feel very comfortable asking for any guidance I needed as well.
Culture
Very inclusive and caring working environment. However, home-working and hybrid-working did mean there was sometimes a lack of opportunities to meet/speak to others within the company but generally this wasn't a huge issue.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship - the work I undertook was very enjoyable and the people I worked with made the experience great!
