    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Visiting managed sites, making sure there were no damages, litter, emptying dog bins. Leading groups of volunteers in helping manage or with larger tasks at sites Preparing and delivering talks and educational events to school group and public events

  • I developed skills in communication and public speaking as I had to give information during the events and explain new activities, crafts or games during these sessions. I had to engage with and answer questions from children so skills in engaging with young people were enhanced

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given the opportunity to lead crafts with the children's groups and give short educational talks during these events on environmental issues. I was able to give my opinion and input in the planning process of these events

  • The staff at ACC were very supportive and wanted me to make the most out of my internship - they would often ask if there was anything I particularly wanted to do or learn

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very warm, welcoming and friendly. I felt like I had a place even though it is a small team and I was only there 5 weeks.,

  • I really enjoyed my internship. I learnt a lot about what being a ranger is about and the general tasks/jobs they carry out and I learn a lot about environmental issue and about the local nature of Aberdeen
