    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, the first few weeks was focused on Learning and Development and then I was assigned a mix of short term and long term tasks including taking responsibility for one of the work packages. Alongside the assigned tasks there are multiple optional opportunities within the company to take on extra responsibilities, like taking part in a working group.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • AWE assigns all of their undergraduates a Buddy a few months before they start working there, so that you can get support and advice before you even start as well as throughout our time there. I was also assigned both a Line Manager, who's responsible for the pastoral side and long term development, and a Task Manager, who's responsible for day to day tasking and development.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Welcoming, friendly, and inclusive! Everyone is always happy to answer any questions I have. There's also a lot of opportunities to meet network with people from other departments and areas, and get involved. The 9 day fortnight (every other week you get Friday off) also really helps to keep a good work life balance

  • I've really enjoyed my placement at AWE and I'd definitely recommend it to any who's thinking about going into Project Management!

  • I think it's important to be enthusiastic! Don't hesitate to ask questions both in your assessment centre and once you start, it shows that you're engaged and interested in what's going on around you.
