The Role
Two weeks was a good amount of time to get to know people in the firm but not quite long enough to get real experience.
'Like family' is rather strong but I did feel like I was useful to the other employees and we got on well and they included me.
They were very busy which meant that I had to actively ask for feedback and extra information if I needed it.
Considering the team was very busy, they managed to find lots of relevant interesting things that I could help with. I was glad I could be useful and never felt pressured because I was doing too much.
More than I expected. They got me to write letters to clients and helped me to learn how to do things I had never had the opportunity to do. Then they just handed it over to me. scary but rewarding!
As I have completed my degree none of the skills will help me there but I would say that the practical things I learned like how to manage a client relationship will stay with me.
The Company
It definitely was a working environment; there was an element of office 'banter' going on but everyone seemed quite settled into work. It was evident that was why people were there.
Very well organised. This is clearly a process that they have had the experience of running for several years.
We had the benefit of one-to-one chats with lawyers who gave up their valuable time to discuss their jobs with us.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
We don't find out for a while but I would like to work for them - if they'll have me!
The Culture
I couldn't attend every event but there were at least two events planned per week including bowling, meal out, comedy club and drinks night.
Birmingham is probably fairly average. It wasn't unreasonably priced and the firm paid for most things.
I didn't go out on the night they went to a club but the others said they had a good time.
We had talks bout corporate responsibility programmes including hearing local children read. We were also encouraged to join company football and netball teams.
