Overview
A packed schedule with a variety of panels, interactive sessions, talks and networking sessions across a variety of divisions. Also a variety of workshops and on the final day a CV session and mock interview. Every day was fairly similar in structure with regular breaks except Wednesday with a morning session in a different office.
Skills
I would say that I developed a greater understanding for the role of each sector in a bank and the way they intertwine. I also now understand with greater clarity what I would like to do and have developed a stringer set of intrapersonal skills and a wider network!
Business Insight
It gave me a good idea of the direction I would like to take my career in. Also apart from that it made me realise how interesting each sector is and made me want to dive into technicals and do some further research.
Culture
Generally it was one of the aspects that stands out the most about the bank. It was talked about quite a lot, and rightly so. Everyone was very welcoming and also extremely talented: you could tell that this was a firm that placed a lot of emphasis on hiring very complete people that worked together as a team to pull the bestow of each other.
Your Impressions
One of the best weeks! I have had so much fun meeting new people and learning about the industry whilst being in the heart of a financial hub. Everyday I was excited to come in and wake up promptly and was sad to leave when the week ended. I have made some great friends and learnt a lot along the process. I had high expectations but the week far exceeded these!
Yes
Bringing it back to culture, to be very hard working but also very strong interpersonally. It is a competitive recruitment process so to never underprepared as one can never over prepare. To focus really on the reasons why JP Morgan and why a career in finance and to be able to talk about past experiences in a good way. Lastly to approach it with an open mind, accepting that the process of applying itself is what makes it worthwhile as well.
