The Role
IBM is a really great place to work, I would advise it to anyone.
Carried out roles which had a real impact on IBM, so there was a real aspect of this.
Lots of mentoring opportunities available in any IBM system you could think of.
My core role wasn't spectacularly busy, but I was able to enrich my role with giveback, shadowing and mentoring which meant I had more than enough to do.
I managed our entire team's point of contact Task Id.
I study a technical degree, so I haven't really learned skills which will directly help in my final year, however, the management and interpersonal skills I have learned will help me for sure.
The Company
It's an office, so don't kid yourself it is going to be a party every day like in the Social Network! Team members are "real people" and love a good chat about stuff!
Incredibly well. Placement students are managed by an internal department called Foundation who do a great job in getting and providing feedback, organising events etc.
If there was an opportunity you wanted to take advantage of, IBM would help you take it.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Hoping to come back as a graduate.
The Culture
With around 300 Industrial Trainees every year at IBM, the social scene is great.
Reasonable I guess, about the same as I paid while at university.
Good, not as good as at uni though! Probably a good thing :)
Loads!
