The Role
Everyone at the firm was incredibly friendly and welcoming and we were made to feel a valued part of the team from the outset.
Everyone seemed genuinely pleased to meet me and made an effort to find suitable work for me to do.
My supervisors were always willing to answer my questions and have general chats about the firm and their lives. Also graduate recruitment organised regular catch-up sessions.
At certain points in the scheme I was very quiet on the work front, however, I think that this is unavoidable as there are only certain tasks that I was capable of helping with! I felt that a genuine effort was always being made to find me useful work.
The products of each of the tasks I was given were used as the transactions that I was involved in went on. I never felt that I was being given work just for the sake of it.
I feel as though I have been given a very good insight into both specific areas of law and also a more general knowledge of the realities of working as a lawyer.
The Company
Everyone in the office really threw themselves into the scheme and there were some fantastic social events organised!
We were each given a scheme timetable on our first day and it was pretty much adhered to completely.
We attended various practical training sessions on topics such as presentation skills. Also there was a strong emphasis on letting us know exactly what type of work the firm and individual departments do.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
I would very much like to work for this firm in the future!
The Culture
The social scene was excellent. Both on the scheme and in the firm in general I found a really interesting mixture of people and the social events which were organised were fantastic. It was a great way to get to know people on an informal basis and get a full picture of what being a part of the firm would entail.
Things can get quite expensive but that's to be expected in London. Also the firm don't mind paying out for some of the social expenses!
There are lots of bars/clubs very close to the office.
Apart from the organised social events there were opportunities to join the firm sports teams and go along to pro bono. Also the trainees in particular organised various lunches and spontaneous coffee trips.
