The Role
Everyone was really friendly and approachable and I was involved in some very interesting matters.
Everyone seemed genuinely pleased to meet me and I was made to feel like a legitimate member of the team from the outset.
My supervisors were always happy to speak to me and answer my questions. Graduate recruitment also organised regular catch-up sessions.
There were times when I didn't have anything to do but I think that this is unavoidable as vacation scheme students an only assist on a limited number of things. I felt that people did genuinely try to find interesting work for me to do.
All of my work was used in the transactions and I never felt that people were giving me task with no purpose and simply to keep me occupied.
I have gotten a really good insight into the realities of working as a commercial lawyer.
The Company
Everyone I met was incredibly friendly and there were some fantastic social events organised!
We were given a timetable on our first day and this was complied with almost completely.
We had helpful training sessions on things such as presentation skills and there was a lot of emphasis placed on letting us know exactly the type of work done by the firm and particular departments.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I would very much like to work for this firm again!
The Culture
I enjoyed socialising both with the other members of the vac scheme and with people from the firm. Everyone threw themselves into the events and it was a great way to meet people outside of your departments on an informal level. It helped to get a full picture of what being a part of the firm would entail.
Socialising was quite expensive but that is to be expected in London. Also the firm didn't have a problem with covering the cost of a lot of socialising!
The office is close to numerous bars and clubs.
As well as the organised social events, we could join the firm's sports teams and get involved in some pro bono. Also the trainees were particularly good for organising lunches and spontaneous coffee trips!
