The Role
It was a fantastic experience and a chance to meet both employees of PwC and other students that also want to peruse a career there
For the whole time I was there, everything was team-focussed and everyone really did value each-other's opinions and contributions
Except for the directly assessed elements, we were always able to ask for support or guidance and the staff there were really knowledgeable and helpful.
Before you join the Academy, it is described as 'intense'... and it is! You are 'on the go' for the whole time you're there, but what you are doing is genuinely interesting and fun so you enjoy being busy.
Because of the tasks that you are set while on the Academy, everyone is given the opportunity to be responsible for the work that you're doing.
The Academy gives you the opportunity to network with employees and peers, as well as gain a far deeper understanding into the work that PwC does; subsequently you develop your 'soft-skills' more than 'applicable knowledge' for your degree. These soft-skills are vital in business though and so the Academy has definitely helped me!
The Company
The Academy presented a fun but challenging environment for us to work in - but everyone was there to develop their skills and to enjoy themselves so the atmosphere was 'well balanced'.
Everything had clearly been meticulously organised and planned - there was a set timetable and everything ran smoothly.
It was a good mix between learning and applying knowledge and we had talks from some of the Senior Partners of the firm, as well as recent graduates to gives us the best insight possible.
As a result of the Academy, I was offered an 11-month Business Placement for my third year of University.
The Culture
Both evenings we had 'free time' to network with our peers, as well as meeting the staff and some Partners of the firm.
Absolutely everything (accommodation, meals etc) was provided for the three days that the Academy ran for.
This doesn't apply to the Academy.
