The Role
It was enjoyable and the time flew by due to various timetabled events. We were well looked after by the firm who put on a number of social events for us.
Reasonably so but, since I was only in the firm for 2 weeks, there is not a lot of time to get heavily involved in the work.
We were given a buddy (a trainee) and a supervisor. Most work was passed to me from my buddy and she was the person that I dealt with each day. I met with my supervisor breifly every couple of days. Working alongside a trainee meant that I had a regular level of work and assistance whenever required which was very good.
Generally had a reasonable level of work but at no point felt under any great time pressure. There were occasions where I had little to do but these occasions were normally when someone had said they had work to give me but needed to get something done before they could pass it on.
By the nature of the 2 week placement, not a lot of responsibility was passed on to me. Most of the work I did was checked over by a trainee and did not generally involve huge responsibility.
Being involved with drafting and client letter writing was excellent since these are routine tasks for a solicitior but matters than would not be taught at university.
The Company
The firm was not stuffy. Generally, everyone was very approachable and willing to answer any questions. People got on with their work but there was a fairly relaxed atmosphere.
In terms of the structure of the placement, it was well organised with a number of events (in and out of work) organised. However, one issue was that we were not always given advanced warning as to these events and the timetable was not certain.
There was a reasonable level of investment by virtue of having a trainee and supervisor assigned to assist you. Presentations were put on my most departments and there were lunches put on to facilitate other events.

Company Parties/Events
I would like to get an offer of a traineeship with the firm and, during the placement, we went through the full application process.
The Culture
The trainees in the firm organised a number of events over the short 2 weeks. This involved the placement students and a few trainees going out to different places e.g. cocktail masterclass. The trainees were very good at organising and putting on these events.
Inexpensive generally.
The nightlife is good and caters to all.
Since I was only with the firm for 2 weeks, the extent of involvement in things outside of work was limited to social evenings although I'm led to believe that they have a few sports teams who play on a semi-regular basis.
