    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Such a valuable experience in both my education and my future career.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Cisco has a well known statement "The Cisco Family", I believe this shows the scale at which you are valued.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whenever I needed support or guidence my manager was always there for me, if they were busy then there is always someone that is willing to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • More towards a perfect balance for sure, Cisco is a huge global company so you tend to work some early and late hours (meetings with Australians and Americans respectively). However, the flexible hours means you can easily make that time up elsewhere by working a half day or having that crucial lie in.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Right from the start of the placement I was given huge amounts of trust and responsibility, it's a great feeling and you are always supported by colleagues and managers alike.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Taking this placement has helped my focus my career ideas and I have chosen specific final year modules to suit the work I did on placement. Cisco love to hire back interns as graduates, I am maximizing my chances as much as possible.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It doesn't feel like work, everyone is so friendly around the office, the social activities are great and you get a real sense of being one of the team.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We were some of the first batch of interns to join Cisco in the UK. Having said that the efforts that the placement team put together were extremely good.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a lot of time and effort into myself as an Intern and there were vast opportunities of training, so much in fact I did not have enough time to complete them all.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Cisco are currently driving both Intern and Graduate schemes so they are very keen on hiring young potential back to the business.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • With a total of ten annual interns there was enough of a crowd of us to have a good social scene between us, but even more so with the social and charity activities that Cisco manage.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in London is rather expensive, however the benefits of the placement easily out weigh this small issue.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London and the surrounding boroughs have every possible need.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of social and charity opportunities.
