The Role
Such a valuable experience in both my education and my future career.
Cisco has a well known statement "The Cisco Family", I believe this shows the scale at which you are valued.
Whenever I needed support or guidence my manager was always there for me, if they were busy then there is always someone that is willing to help.
More towards a perfect balance for sure, Cisco is a huge global company so you tend to work some early and late hours (meetings with Australians and Americans respectively). However, the flexible hours means you can easily make that time up elsewhere by working a half day or having that crucial lie in.
Right from the start of the placement I was given huge amounts of trust and responsibility, it's a great feeling and you are always supported by colleagues and managers alike.
Taking this placement has helped my focus my career ideas and I have chosen specific final year modules to suit the work I did on placement. Cisco love to hire back interns as graduates, I am maximizing my chances as much as possible.
The Company
It doesn't feel like work, everyone is so friendly around the office, the social activities are great and you get a real sense of being one of the team.
We were some of the first batch of interns to join Cisco in the UK. Having said that the efforts that the placement team put together were extremely good.
The firm invested a lot of time and effort into myself as an Intern and there were vast opportunities of training, so much in fact I did not have enough time to complete them all.

Cisco are currently driving both Intern and Graduate schemes so they are very keen on hiring young potential back to the business.
The Culture
With a total of ten annual interns there was enough of a crowd of us to have a good social scene between us, but even more so with the social and charity activities that Cisco manage.
Living in London is rather expensive, however the benefits of the placement easily out weigh this small issue.
London and the surrounding boroughs have every possible need.
Lots of social and charity opportunities.
