    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was able to look at the big picture of tax laws in Ueropean countries and how it interacts with US tax laws and policies.

  • Friendly and respectful. I couldn't ask for more.

  • Not only your direct manger but also other managers are willing to help with any matters involved in my job.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Like any other finance/accounting job, month/quarter end closing period is always busy. On daily basis, it depends on the taxpacks receive from countries and projects you are involved at the time.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for a few monthly reporting - espectially Cash tax report. In the global economic crisis period, cash tax is quite important - so responsiblity was greater than ever.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was able to see big pictures of finance and accounting area not ony microsoft office features. I also learned business ethics.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The Tax department is located next to rooms of XE president. So the atmosphere was very quiet and professional.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I found most of the things in tax department was already mature - so it was quite frustrated for me since I couldn't really find great need for developing things for the team.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My managers gave me many compliments and also developments I need to work on for my future career.

  • Subsidised Canteen

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am not sure if Tax department will be able to hire any new graduate without tax qualification. However, HR deparment promises all placement students to provide all job information.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are parties organized for placement students.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Not so close to the central london, but Uxbridge has the tube station which is a good benefit. It also has Brunel university nearby - so many shops are available.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am not so engaged with nightlife - however, I heard there are some night clubs mainly for students.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are gyms and parks nearby Uxbridge.
