The Role
This placement has allowed me to create and develop skills that I will use both at University and in my future career. It has provided me with the opportunity to put into context the theory I learnt during the first two years of my law degree.
My colleagues were very supportive and I felt like a valued member of the team.
I was always given guidance and support when asked, I would have liked a bit more training, but as the first ever legal intern this was difficult to facilitate.
I was very busy on a daily basis but the work load increased even more during quarter ends when I was expected to work additional hours. There is always something to do, and somebody to help in the legal department!
I was given a high level of responsibility during my placement, being the point of contact for field services contracts, confidentiality agreements, procurement contracts and much more. This allowed me to negotiate with key clients and drafting became a daily tasks. The exposure of legal issues in the department is fantastic for somebody at such an early stage in their career.
The skills and training I have recieved have been invaluable in preparing me for my final year, LPC and training contract.
The Company
The office is open plan and therefore everyone is very sociable and you are not just straing at a screen all day long! There is a sense of team work and something is always going on!
It ahs been set up very well as next years interns are recruited by the current interns so this allows you to expereince being on the other side of the process - very helpful for future application processes.
The compnay invests not only time but also money on sending you to courses and giving you one to one training. I have been on training in central London with our external counsel as well as courses on site.

Future propects are very appealing as I enjoy the area of law and the people I work with. Although, as my career aspiration is to become a solcitor I am required to do a training contract
The Culture
Many of the students live together so there are always opportunities to socialise and being so close to London provides a city liek lifestyle that you can also escape when it gets too hectic.
As we are on the communter belt the cost of living is fairly high, it is just slightly cheaper than London.
London is on your doorstep!
Yes, every department has an offsite - Legal's was in The Belfry which has its own nightclub! There is also the Summer and Christmas Parties.
