The Role
Amazing balance of hard work, fun and genuine responsibility
Was not treated as an intern, but instead as a full time, established employee. My opinions were valued and actioned upon and I was included in corporate hospitality throughout the year.
Was given support and guidance where necessary/appropriate. If I did something wrong I was given constructive criticism so that I would improve. As I developed throughout the year I was given less guidance and used my own initiative to make decisions - the perfect balance!
In general throughout the year I had a grat balance of work. Of course there were times when I was more busy than others, but at no stage was there nothing for me to do.
I ran a year long campaign called the Run Prouder Awards www.saprunprouder.com/success and was given an increasing amount of responsibility as my year progressed. I was entrusted with many things and this made me feel valued and a real asset to the team.
The skills I have learned on placement are invaluable. From time management to stakeholder management etc I have developed a wide range of skills that will help me in my future career. "Real work" has added context to my university studies.
The Company
A work hard, play hard culture. Everyone in the team was friendly and approachable. People have their own jobs and responsibilities but always made the time for me and the other interns.
There was a plan for my placement, including: planned campaigns/involvement, objectives/reviews etc.
SAP invested lots of time in my development - there is a large range of training/development programmes. If I saw one that I thought would be benficial to me, I asked my managers permision and if appropriate was enrolled on the course.

The Culture
Interns were introduced and a group was formed to houseshare. Interns regularly went out on a Thursday and played football on Mondays and wednesdays.
There is affordable housing, but Greater London prices aren't the cheapest. I rented a room for £375 a month with other interns, in Egham which suited perfectly.
30mins train into central London. 10minutes to Richmond and Windsor. Not too far away from good bars and clubs.
I played in the SAP football world cup - SAP pay for the different market units from around the world to travel to their HQ in Germany to play in the annual SAP world cup. 3 days of football and fun! All flights, accomodation covered by SAP...AMAZING
