The Role
I have loved every minute of it. The ideal balance between work and social events, learning through work on my seat and learning through talks and networking with partners. Genuinely a fantastic experience - I have learnt more in the last two and a half weeks than I think I ever could from reading books or articles about the legal profession. The best thing about MB - the people! Friendly, welcoming and all individuals who appreicate one another's value and all get along regardless of whether they would be friends outside of work.
I felt like part of the team eg. was invited out for drinks with the rest of the corporate team
Extremely helpful and never made me feel like anything I was asking was too trivial.
A fair amount - more in construction than in corporate because in construction I am working on similar things to the trainee.
I never knew what to look for when drafting, nor how to do a company research report, i never knew what outsourcing was, was never familiar with a construction contract or the basic levels of relationships between the contractors and developers, the issues associated with variation agreements.. All things I've learnt here and will always carry with me.
The Company
A good level of humour and chatting, I got the feeling people take their work seriously but not themselves.
Genuinely cannot think of anything I would like to have been done differently.
Taking the time to take us to Kaplan and run departmental talks, as well as supervisors making sure we have enough work and more improtantly that we have interesting work which we can learn from, reflects the fact that MB has invested time and effort into training.
