The Role
On the whole the work I was given was interesting, there were plenty of social events and the team got on well.
Any office environment will be hard to settle into on a short vacation scheme but generally I was welcomed and people were friendly.
My supervisors themselves seemed quite busy but other people in the department were encouraged to help me along my way.
I had things to be getting on with but work was never piled onto me.
My work was always heavily supervised and always checked, but I wouldn't want it any other way because I don't yet know how to do it right!
It is valuable seeing the inside of a big city office and learning how people interact with each other in an office environment. It was also useful to learn what I might end up doing as a trainee (hopefully) but the actual content of the work wont be very relevant to my studies.
The Company
It's a fairly social environment and people pop in and out of offices to say hi. There are also drinks every now and then.
We were given a detailed timetable and it all seemed to go according to plan.
We were given various talks almost every day to help us understand the deparments that we might not have worked in and other aspects like the business development side of the firm.
Subsidised Canteen
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
We get an interview during the course of the vac scheme.
The Culture
We were encouraged to socialise and we all ate lunch together.
London is expensive.
There were plenty of pubs around but I didn'y hang around much after work as they're all very expensive.
Emails went around inviting us to join in sports matched and the like.
