The Role
I think I had a lot of ups and downs but the support is always available when you feel that you are struggling
Every employee is different and by most I felt really valued and they treat you as part of their close team. There is always the odd person who you find it difficult to get along with.
I felt I could have asked any question no matter how silly it sounded. When problems arose there was always somebody to go to for help, support and advice.
It varies from day to day. Some days you can be rushed off your feet and the job can seem overwhelming however other days you are able to work really efficiently as you have more staff available.
I was built up from store assistant level to store manager level over a period of time. This meant that I was able to build up the responsibility to the point where I could run a store and manage all cash and ordering procedures for the store.
I have developed skills that I am really grateful for and will really help with my employability for the future.
The Company
The placement is so well structured that you always know what events and meetings that are coming up so that you can better plan your weeks ahead.
So much time gets invested in you by the management training you to make sure that you are 100% confident in the task in hand.
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I would really like to go back and work for Lidl when I finish at university. There are so many different schemes that you can apply to and this placement really allows you to get a head start.
The Culture
I would have liked to have seen more of the placement students but when we did meet up, we all got on so well that it made it an event to really look forward to.
I moved to my region for my job and was fortunate that my friend was moving there too. We were able to find somewhere together and it was relatively inexpensive.
We lived close to Bristol so we could catch the train in and get a lift or a taxi home which was really fortunate because Bristol is a really good night out.
I met up with some of my staff outside of work but it really depends of your store and the relationships that you build with people.
