The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, felt like I had some high resposibilities and if I wanted to; there was always more work available for me. Plus with Disney there was a lot of bonuses like cheap sales, free movie screenings, sometimes Disney characters will come to our offices plus everyone was so laid back, could wear anything I wanted to, listened to music all the time, everyone had their desks convered with Disney merchandise. Just felt like a relaxed atmosphere.
Felt like I was treated like one of the staff as they recruit so many interns. My whole floor felt like somewhat of a family. Staff was always so talkative and I was never scared to come into work and they always trusted me with very important tasks.
My manager was always there, I am suprised how patient he was with me especially at the start as I asked so many questions. Plus a staff member always made sure I was getting a long okay. Plus we did have performance reviews every 3 months to check on how I was doing and what I could do in the future.
I was usually very busy during month end/quarter end and year end but there was rare times where I would have nothing to do. However there was always work my team had to do so I always had the chance to expand my horizons which I did do to an extent. End of the day it was get out what you put in.
A lot, I was talking to people around the whole world, even submitting government forms that went to the US. A lot of the templates I updated would be used by about 9 different teams in Europe plus I was submitting so many reports to the US, even took over roles from other people around the world, couldnt of asked for more.
Dont know where to begin, my excel skills went straight through the roof which took effect soon as I started. Worked with so many business systems such as SAP, Invision, Microstrategy etc. Communicated with people in different levels in different ways in different countries. Organisational skills definitely improved as had so many deadlines at one time. Also took on some communication and how to lead effective meetings courses which was a bonus.
The Company
Relaxed, always snacks and cake on a persons birthday, could easily have general chit chats about anything. Downside is everyone always had work and since and sometimes it felt too quiet compared to other floors, thats why interns called this the suicide floor, I didnt really notice.
Really well, had a handover period with the intern I was replacing then just go to work. Over the year as I got more confortable on what I was doing I obtained more tasks.
Well the training came from my team and when I learnt new tasks. There was always a high variety of courses to take to enrich your skills but I just concentrated on my work, I did do a few though. However I love to learn by doing.

Thing is even though I loved the company I hated London, just want my sort of place. However a lot of interns do come back to Disney for permanent jobs.
The Culture
With so many interns it was easy to find friends. We had intern socials at the start where you could meet and go out with them. Eventually everyone formed their own groups which is natural of course. In addition some of us interns formed our own football team for the Disney league.
It is London, what do you expect, it depends on how much rent is. I managed to do okay especially when I moved into my second flat while on placement. Had a good amount of money to spend on going out.
Again it is London, where do you begin. However the area I worked in there was a lot of bars and pubs nearby.
A lot of staff went running together or gym. There was a Disney football league every tuesday and to be fair again you get out what you put in.
