The Role
Very enjoyable and at the same time eye opening to real working life
Being part of different sized groups/sections/departments, it was easy to contibute and add value.
They were all very supportive through out the entire year, understanding when mistakes were made and very complimentary when hard tasks achieved
at times it was very hard to cope with all the work, but learning time management is a key skill gained
I was given a lot of responsibility very early on that added to my confidence and senses of accomplishments.
Things like time management, people skills, lab techniques, writing scientific papers were all enhanced during my time in the placement.
The Company
It was professional most of the time but not overly formal. Fun was had at times, but mostly on smaller scales. It was at the appropriate level though .
It is very well established here and we all slotted in very easily following the departure of the previous students.
Supervisors are very keen to talk about development and try to optimise this. We were obviously not given as much as full time employees, but more then most companies probably.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I definitely hope to get a full time job with them, they have the right values and good work ethics.
The Culture
There are over 100 other students at this site and it was a hugely social group. Many events have been planned
Quite cheap but not overly, relative to most places.
Some good pubs, but only one nightclub (quite cheesy as well). but in a big enough group, it was always fun
Depends on what kind of acitivies. There was certainly always time in the evening to persue other hobbies/jobs/activities
