The Role
A good experience overall, however I feel I had little work prepared for me and did little of use.
I got on well with many of my colleagues and usually went to lunch with the team I was working with that day, however on some days I often felt like a burden with colleagues, with them having no work for me to do and often giving me near pointless tasks.
I had a mentor to go to for support and many colleagues were happy to give me support if I asked for it
I often had no work for me to do in the second week, meaning that I filled my time doing university work
Most of the tasks I did were of little value like basic data entry or changing dates on powerpoints. This is understandable though seeing as I was only there 2 weeks meaning that it would have been hard for me to get into a project.
Some of the things I worked on such as the patent box and tax structures benefited my studies, especially in respect to economic policy.
The Company
There was always always a good atmosphere among colleagues with many being good friends with one another.
Many teams did not know I was working with them until that day and I often had no work prepared for me.
For a two week scheme they invested a lot of time in terms of the induction and a meal at a restaurant in Canary Wharf on my first day to answer any questions I may have.
Subsidised Canteen
KPMG seems like a great company and I would like to work in management consultancy there in the future.
The Culture
I had after work drinks, with interns one day during the placement and often met them during my lunch break.
London
London
There are many opportunities for activities within KPMG, however seeing as I was only there for two weeks I was unable to participate in them.
