The Role
Excellent. Very well thought out scheme, everyone was really friendly, I was well paid, well looked after, not overworked and the work was challenging and stimulating. My only criticism is that at times, due to the nature of the work, not being a qualifying chatered accountant made me feel slightly like a spare part.
I felt as if the work I was doing was important and as a result, that my colleagues valued it. There was one instance where I'm pretty sure my help was paramount!
Management were always happy to explain things. Even though I initially felt like I was annoying everyone with so many questions, I was reassured by how kindly everyone responded.
When I was booked to a job, I had work, whereas days when I was without a task, busying myself became difficult.
High exposure to client work, and direct interface and communication with clients.
Everyone was so happy to explain things, and the work I did was so stimulating that I learned a lot.
The Company
A nice, new building with a very relaxed, friendly environment.
Everything from the application/assessment process, to our induction, through to my final week, it was clear that a great deal of thought had gone into it. It made for a very welcoming and reassuring experience.
Everything they could in the 6 weeks.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Got through to the final interview for a graduate position. If I get an offer I'll be taking it. Waiting to hear now!
The Culture
There were always people going out for drinks and activities in the evenings.
Not a great deal KPMG could do about the cost of living. Canary Wharf is not a cheap area. However, the generous nature of the pay packet made things a lot easier.
The nearby bars were brimming after work in the evenings.
CSR is a big selling point of KPMG. There were several opportunities to get involved in volunteering advertised. I head talk of inter-departmental sports fixtures too, but I wasn't around long enough to enquire.
