The Role
The placement was a great opportunity to put into practice some of the skills learn during university. This was not just limited to academic but other skills such as communication too
During meetings my opinion was valued by all, including management as over the placement you will become very knowledgable about the project you work on
The support was there if needed and you only ever had to ask
Some days were incredibly busy, others less so. More often than not though they were very busy. The key is to make a list and prioritise
From testing in the labs on my own to organising metrics for executives, responsiblity was handed to you but as before, if it became too much you only have to talk to someone.
The skills learnt are applicable to univeristy but not necessarily academically too much. The skills, however, are very employable
The Company
Everyone was very friendly and only too willing to help when needed. Sometimes a little stressed when deadlines approach but everyone was still professional
I was treated as a graduate and given no special treatment which suited me
Not a lot of development in terms of courses and things but the managers were keen to see you attempt new things and helped to gain a variety of skills and experiences from different areas
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
High - a have a letter of intent to hire if there is a job and I meet graduation targets for degree classification. Also the opportunity to move business unit if prefered
The Culture
There was between those living near each other but not living in the city with the others made it more difficult
Compared to the North where I'm from, the South Coast was a lot more expensive but not horrific with the wages paid
Only went a few times as I didn't live in the city
There were many events set up by the company such as charity work, air shows, helping out at engineering events at local schools.
