  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the year greatly, but was looking forward to returning to uni at the end (not a bad thing).

  • IP students are treated the same as permanent staff, so this was not an issue.

  • My supervisor and other staff were generally very helpful. If any advice was required there was always someone to ask.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Was very occasionally too busy, or had little to do. Good time management skills will be important.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The degree of responsibility was not the same as that of permanent staff with more experience (obviously), but input was welcomed and I was free do my own research and carry out the reactions I thought would allow the target compounds to be produced.

  • Skills developed (both practical chemistry and analytical) will be very useful. Experience in lab environment also is likely to
