The Role
I enjoyed being taken onboard as a professional even though I was carrying an 'intern' title. I carried out the same taskings as official members of staff.
People are very warm and welcoming and this was consistent throughout my placement.
Regular one-2-one meetings were held to allow me to voice any queries/concerns that I may of had.
The role in itself can be quite demanded as you have to prioritise between what's important and what's urgent.
I was given a fair, balanced amount of responsibility as any other permenant member on the team which help me grow pass my learning curve and obtain a vast amount of life-time skills.
The skills aquired are both skills which I can adapt to both working life and student life.
The Company
On a regular basis, you often had to liaise with team members. This helped with forming relationships with other colleagues.
The organisation had ordered steps which coincide with my level of progress to help me gradually advance to a level where I was comfortable to carry out tasks independently.
Within the regular one-2-one meetings, my Manager regularly ensured that I was concious of the available job roles and what I may be interested in within the Technology Field.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
My chances of getting a job would be of a better advantage than if I never had a placement with BlackRock. Even thoug ha job is not garanteed when you leave the placement, I've no doubt that I would be considered if I were to re-apply.
The Culture
I commuted from home therefor ethere were no living costs involved. City is an expensive area, therefore socialising can be a bit costly depending on where you go.
There is a nightlife as there are many offices around therefore there are many restaurants, bars and clubs which are accessible.
There were a few opportunities which I was exposed to, but sometimes hard to commit to because of the demands of the job role and a clash of schedules.
