The Role
It was really good fun. The work was challenging and interesting, for really big clients (as you would expect at a magic circle firm) and everyone at the firm was sociable. The events they put on are also great!
Both of the trainee buddies I had, and both of my principals went out of their way to get me work to do and explain what their job entailed. They have encouraged me to keep in contact with them. Loads of people kept coming and introducing themselves to me and involving me in their work. Linklaters makes every effort to make sure you can meet everyone you would like to.
We had self-appraisals and appraisals at the end of each two-week seat so we knew exactly how we were doing. We also had an exit meeting with HR to see how we got on. Every bit of work I did was fully explained to me and any questions I had were answered. I always felt sure that if I had any questions that there would be someone to answer them for me.
In my first seat I was always busy and had more than one bit of work on the go at a time. My second seat was less busy, but everyone was always tryign to involve me in work where they could or getting me to try some work that trainees had done in the past so that I got experience of what their job is like.
Similar responsibility to a trainee.
Completed and learnt about lots of trainee tasks.
The Company
Personal favourite thing about the office: they have a drinks trolley every Friday afternoon in each department and everyone gets together to have a chat over a drink at the end of the week. I was also lucky enough to attend (on top of the vac scheme events) 2 department's summer drinks parties which were great.

We won't find out if we have a job with them until 1st September (because of SRA Rules) but everyone gets a training contract interview if you want one, and there's a good retention rate from the vac scheme to the training contract.
The Culture
Pricey, obviously as it's in Central London, but you get a lot of free events,
