The Role
Had a really great time, the people are lovely and the vac scheme is very well organised. There's the opportunity to sit in two departments which gives you a broad understanding of the firm and a chance to get involved in lots of different work. Excellent socials too.
Everyone is very friendly, and will take the time to get to know you. Got introduced to plenty of people, and everyone is happy to answer any questions you have.
Principals give lots of support but also give you the opportunity to get on with work independently. Trainees are always around to answer any other questions you have, or don't want to ask someone more senior.
It was quite varied, but mostly had enough work to do without having to stay too late. Sometimes a bit quieter, but there were other things to do in that time.
Given a good amount of responsibility, particularly on research tasks where you work independently. There are excellent resources which makes taking responsibility for your own work, and finding answers yourself, quite easy.
Lots of training and workshops about the legal profession generally which will be useful in future. Chance to develop research and communication skills, and think from different perspectives, which will all be useful at university and after.
The Company
Really fun environment, everyone is very chatty and relaxed. Drinks trolley on a Friday night is a good way to get to know people socially.
Exceptionally well organised, with a variety of time in the office, lectures and socials. Lots of support from Grad Recruitment.
Workshops on a variety of skills and a good amount of feedback on work done.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Would be a great firm to work for.
The Culture
Everyone was very social, and we spent plenty of time together outside official vac-scheme socials. Often went out after socials to continue the fun!
Central London so reasonably expensive, but found some cheaper places and got loads of free food/drink throughout the vac scheme.
Really good and easy to travel to other places in Central London.
Made a real effort to get vac-schemers involved with sports teams, and lots of people attended department summer parties.
