The Role
I enjoyed my job role but there was often a lot of pressure to perform at a high standard in a short time frame.
I definitely felt like an integral member of the team by the end of my placement.
The good thing about IBM is that there is always someone around to help out if you need it.
My job role in particular required a high work output.
I was given full responsibility for the successful operation of technical enablement events with client attendees.
The IT skills I've been able to develop will no doubt be beneficial for my University studies and future career. In addition to this I have been able to expand upon my professional etiquette and communication skills by a significant amount.
The Company
Everyone who worked in my department was friendly and helpful but the intensity of the work during busy periods did have an effect on the outlook of the team as a whole.
I didn't entirely know what my job role would entail until I starting working with my department on the third day of my placement. The department which runs the placement scheme can be fairly unorganised at times.
I was able to attend a number of different education sessions during the course of my place although I didn't have the opportunity to gain qualifications for the skills I was learning about.

The IBM graduate scheme is an option I am definitely considering although I'm not entirely confident that the corporate environment is somewhere I wish to work in after University.
The Culture
There were around 70 placement students based at my location I generally got along with all of them.
Being that most of the IBM locations used for industrial placements are in the South of the country I would say it's quite high.
Southampton has some OK bars but they're generally good for quiet drinking rather than having a wild night out.
There were a number of different sporting competitions to get involved in.
