The Role
I found that the job itself was quite easy and lacked a little challenge, so I proposed new ideas and was somewhat allowed to set my own tasks which made up for this.
My team were all very close and I felt valued within my team, however there are alot of people to meet and lots of connections to make and you have to make yourself known or people can feel more like strangers to you.
Everyone is willing to help and my manager was very good at detailing what she wanted from me and how I should go about it. I had a project manager who was more distanced to give me the opportunity to think for myself on my own work, however he was always there for hekp and advice when I was struggling.
I always had something to do and, providing I managed my time approproriately, there was enough time to do everything.
I was expected to manage my own tests and was put in charge of statistics for the whole team. Although I was given a lot of responsibility there was always help if I needed it.
I have a lot more experience in business practices time management, people management, statistics and newsletter design. These are very transferable skills that will benefit me in potential future jobs. I have also had lab experience which, along with my time management, statistical skills and increased confidence, will benefit my during my degree.
The Company
There was some joking and light hartedness, however it was quite quite quiet overall.
I was expected to merge in with the team instantly, which was fine for a normal job, but there was no student project set up and a lot of time was wasted deciding what I could do after I started.
You get lots of trainig and advice and I was occasionally sent out to seminars to increase my knowledge in various feilds. There was a couple of team days out so I could get to know everyone in a stress free environment, which made me more confidence. I was also expected to present on several occasions, which developed my confidence and presenting skills.

Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I have a good grasp of how the business works now and I think a would like a job here, however I also find the constant expectation to do better than your best all the time and "go up in the business" quite stressful, so I will be looking at other jobs too.
The Culture
I found that there were students all over Reckitts that I didn't know about and no arrangements by the company for us to meet each other. I found that the students formes cliques related to their houses and teams and I was very difficult to socialise with them.
I thought it was reasonable for a city centre. As Hull has a fairly small city centre you had the ability to walk and save on travel costs, which helped.
There aren't loads of clubs but the few there are cater to different tastes. There are, however, lots of bars that are close toghether in the city cenre.
There are various gyms to get involved with outside work and Reckitts has a rambling club for people keen on walking.
