The Role
Generally a very enjoyable year.
The business is very friendly and everyone welcomes questions and are happy to help.
Support was exemplary with supervisors and managers prepared to take time out to assist with problems I was having or to confirm that what I was doing was correct.
I found the work load would fluctuate with projects, so there would be periods of being very busy and periods with not too much to do.
I was allowed to lead (with supervision) certain CPO projects (customer product opportunities) and designed from a scratch a unit that is now in production
Definitely approach problems in a different way, choosing to focus on what I do know in order to identify that which I do not.
The Company
Very friendly atmosphere, banter between employees.
Spent periods in different departments for maximum exposure. Started in Installed Base in order to gain maximum product knowledge early on.
Pro/Engineer Training was invaluable. Drawings have dramatically improved.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Definitely going to apply for teh GE Edison Program
The Culture
Socialising was encouraged between student interns and Edison Graduates.
Lived in Loughborough (Student Town) so living was relatively in expensive.
Loughborough is realtively cheap and there are lots of students.
Sports and Social club ran regular trips/events.
