    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed this placement as I was always doing 'real' work for people all over the department rather than just for one person.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone came over to me at some point in the week to say hello or to give me some work which was great as it meant I had a range of tasks concerning different issues to get involved with.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I always had support from my supervisor and also the trainees in the department if I was stuck with a problem. I never felt left on my own with work.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was never a point when I had nothing to do but at the same time I was never overrun. The pace of work was steady and manageable.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of work to be responsible for but as is to be expected, I was never taking charge of anything!

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The work I have done will definitely assist me in subsequent placements and on my training contract as I now have a good understanding of what work in a Corporate department involves.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office is very friendly but it's also easy to tell when people are busy and need to be more serious.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was well organised. I always knew where I was supposed to be and when and also, I always knew who I was to report to if I had a problem. I was never left on my own.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Running the placement itself is a sign of how the firm invests in trainees because they want to see you working for a whole week and ensure that you're the right fit for the firm but also to ensure that this firm is right for you.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It's difficult to predict at this stage as there have been quite a few placement students I think but the assessments are fair and I have had a good opportunity to show what I can do in my department so fingers crossed!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We went out on a couple of evenings for drinks/a pool tournament so that was good fun and an opportunity to chat to all the trainees as there are quite a few! I got on well with the other placement students and we had a good laugh at the social events.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Leeds is not too expensive to socialise. Plus, at the social events, the firm kindly provide food and drinks!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 4/5
