The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about my placment with Pinsent Masons LLP. It was a valuable and enjoyable experience.
The team within which I worked were extremely friendly, as was everyone else that I met within the company.
The time was always to taken to explain in detail any task I was asked to complete and all staff were approachable and supportive.
I generally had a steady flow of work to do and was never so busy that I was unable to cope with the volume of work. There were occasions on which I found I had very little to do, however this is understandable at times and the trainees made every effort to find me some sort of task to complete.
I was given some resposibilty, in the sense of drafting advice to a client, however this wasn't too daunting as all work was checked and ammended where necessary before being sent out.
This placement has certainy developed my research and drafing skills and I feel that this will be of great benefit to me throughout the rest of my degree.
The Company
Whilst all staff were focussed on their work, there was a friendly atmosphere within the office, where everyone, from trainees to partners, was always appraochable.
The placement was extremely well organised and a detailed schedule for the two weeks was followed.
I received IT training and the activites organised by the firm throughout the two weeks (both assessed and non-assessed) helped me to develop a range of new skills
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Financial Bonus
During the placement, all candidates were interviewed and took part in a range of assessed activities in an attempt to secure a training contract with the firm. The decisions are made as to who the firm wil make offers to over the next month or so.
The Culture
There was an excellent social scene amongst myself and the three other students on the placement.
Living costs were not an issue for me as I stayed in my family home and all socialising was funded by the firm!
Manchester has excellent nightlife and boasts a wide variety of good bars, restaurants and clubs.
The firm has many sports teams and placement students are welcome to get involved.
