The Role
Audit was an area I knew very little about before I started, so I was relatviely apprehensive. I can hineslty say I have loved every minute, especially the two day course at Bradenham Manor, a National Trust property in Buckinghamshire which is leesed by GT.
Every single person I have met has been so unbelievaly friendly and helpful. No question was a silly question, and everyone was keen and willing to help and give me jobs to do.
I did not spend much time with my line manager, but when I asked her questions she was helpful.
I spent most of my time out with clients and was always very busy then but was never given an unrealistic amount of work. I was less busy on the days I actually spent in the office.
I did do my share of making the tea and the photocopying, but I was also given a lot of responsibility. After being shown the process I was left alone to complete specific jobs, but everyone was always very helpful if I had any queries.
Many transferable skills that will undoubtedly be helpful in every aspect of business.
The Company
We always sat together, even the managers and partners sat with us, not in their own offices, and in my four weeks there were four social events including a pizza night, an office picnic, a quiz night and a meal out.
From the day of my phone interview HR were incredibly hepful and personal. A thought of thought and attention had gone into my four weeks.
The two day course in Bradenham was a fantastic learnig and training course.
National Travel
I have one week of my inernship left but I am definitely keen to stay on if GT are keen to employ me.
The Culture
There were several young people in my office including graduates and school leavers which was really nice. I also had the opportunity to meet interns from the other GT offices which was really nice.
I lived at home!
Ipswich has not got great nightlife...!
There were office socials every week whilst I was there, and GT organises a lot of social and corporate responsibility events. My internship included a day working at a primary school in Birmingham. Our jobs included painting, planting flowers and creating a woodland trail.
