The Role
I absolutely loved my time at Pinsent Masons, everyone is really friendly and the work I was given was challenging and interesting. I was really sad to leave on the last day and looked forward to each day!
I was placed in a really friendly department, everyone was really helpful and approachable. Everyone was keen to offer help as well as having a laugh over the two weeks.
I couldn't fault the support I was given from trainee level up to the partners. I was assigned a trainee buddy who was really supportive and we got on really well. My supervisor was always approachable and gave me positive as well as constructive feedback.
I was never sat twiddling my thumbs, but by the same account I never felt like I had too much on and had too much to do - there was quite a good balance.
It was great to complete tasks which were of use to others in the team. I completed some legal research which I then saw being used during a client conference call. I was also responsible for drafting deeds and other legal documents.
I have developed so many skills from this placement which I can apply to my future studies, from developing my drafting skills, to legal research, to communicating with other members of my department. Everything I was asked to do allowed me to develop some skill to some degree.
The Company
The atmosphere was always great in my department, work was done whilst having a laugh with one another, I think the open plan structure really accommodates for this kind of atmosphere. I couldn't have asked for a better team of people to work with.
The timetable we were given for the placement prior to starting was great and gave you a clear instruction of what was happening on what day and where to be at certain times.
With daily practice presentations and an induction in London on day 1 training was definitely invested throughout the placement.

I am keeping my fingers crossed! I would really like to be able to go back and work at Pinsent Masons again, this time as a trainee, the firm is exactly what I want for my career and I really enjoyed my placement.
The Culture
The socials were great fun and included a pool tournament, wine tasting and a treasure hunt!
I managed to stay with a friend during my time there so I managed to keep costs very low!
I love the Leeds nightlife, there's always so much to do. I am a regular visitor to Leeds so already knew the area quite well!
The social life is really great, not just with other vac placement students but with trainees and other colleagues up to Partner level too! Everyone is really friendly and sociable so it was great fun to socialise within the firm.
