The Role
I enjoyed this year so much and I find it sad that it's coming to an end. I learned a lot about myself and about what I want from a job. I am really happy with my choice.
My manager was always very supportive of me and the team I worked in valued me. I never felt that I was just a student doing small jobs, I have always felt like I belonged and that I was treated equally. I made a lot of friends in the company.
My manager was very good and I was very lucky to have someone like him guide me. We have similar personalities and we worked very well together. He was always there to advise me and to provide feedback, he even checked my email when I wasn't sure of the wording or my tone. He helped me identify my development areas and work on them.
There were days when I found it difficult to manage all my work but that taught me a lot about time management and prioritizing. But on a general basis, I was busy enough not to get bored or to feel that time was standing still.
I've never felt that anyone was looking over my shoulder and checking my every move and email. After a few months I wa confident to do my job on my own and only ask for advice from time to time. Gradually, I took on more responsability and I was always happy that I am more than capable to do my job.
I have learned so much this year - how to talk to people in the company, talk to customers and suppliers, write professional emails, time management, working with different people, how to deal with conflicts and frustrations, identify what is important in my job, being extremly organised.
The Company
We had a good atmosphere in the office, with the occasional laugh and sharing jokes and stories. There were a lot of chats and we had lunch together. But it was never too loud and I think we had a good balance.
The company had a good scheme in place, we had about 30 placements and graduates in total. We had a lot of training - on presentations, team work, communication. We all had the opportunity to get involve in events and even managing them. We had support from HR as placements and 1to1 meetings to discuss our progress. I really enjoyed the fact that there was a big group of young people in the company and the fact that others knew about placements and graduates. I wouldn't have liked to be the only placement in a company.
I had 4 days of training - team work, communication, presentations, customer care. I have also had personal consultating to help me identify my weaknesses and how to work on them. I've also been on Purchasing training (related to my position).
Subsidised Canteen

I really like the company and I hope that I will be able to find a graduate role that I like.
The Culture
I made a lot of friends and we went out together. I moved location in order to do this placement and I didn't know anyone when I started - now I find it hard to believe I won't get to spend time with some of these people.
For myself, I was a bit difficult as I lived in a different town so I had to account for travel costs. But I managed this year with my paycheck only so I am quite proud!!
Stamford is nie to go out in but for me it was a little bit difficult as I had to plan it out and find a place to stay. There isn't much choice when it come to clubs and pubs but if you find one you like, stick to it - that's what I did.
There are so many things happening - a lot of events organised by people in the company, sports clubs, hiking, quizes. And you get great support if you want to organise something.
