The Role
I enjoyed all of the work that I was given and the variety of it means that it is a job that I could never get bored with.
I was treated very well and was even invited down to London to represent the firm at a completion. I was given real work to do which showed that Pinsent Masons valued the skills which I have been developing on my degree.
Whenever I asked for help it was given, and my trainee supervisor was very supportive. I always felt that if I had a problem I could ask either my trainee or my associate supervisor.
I was never short of work to do, but if my department was ever quiet or my trainee had nothing to give me UI could go to another department to ask them for some instead. The social events organised by trainees kept me busy also.
I was given a lot of responsibility on genuine client work. This enhanced my experience I feel, as it gave me an idea of the kind of work that a commercial solicitor undertakes.
In some areas prior knowledge was not esssential but I found that a few of the areas I studied so far at university have helped me greatloy in some research tasks.
The Company
It was friendly but obviously a professional working environment. It was not as though you felt that you could not talk to the person sat next to you every now and again but just not prolonged conversations.
It was good to sit in the same department for 2 weeks, and the work that I was given was always at a level that I felt I could do it well.
The firm invested a lot of time and money in me for not only social events, but practice presentation talks every morning, drinks, meals and train tickets. The firm genuinely welcomes you anjd gives you a chance to be a part of the firm for those 2 weeks. It was a fantastic experience.

Company Parties/Events
Pinsent Masons is an ambitious firm with fantastic career prospects. There is the chance to travel, meet interesting people and a wide variety of work.
The Culture
Even on nights when there were no organised events I still went out with the trainee solicitors for drinks.
Not incredibly cheap but very good for the second biggest city in England.
Birmingham is a fantastic student area and there is great nightlife on every day of the week.
I attended one night in the office where clients were invited in to play on the Nintendo Wii with other solicitors.
