The Role
Everyone was really friendly and the work was varied and challenging. Lots of social activities to get to know trainees and partners.
Everyone, especially trainee buddies really seemed to care about how you were getting on. Trainees became good friends.
Supervisor was always there in the office, which is open plan, for any questions and had three feedback meetings.
Never didnt have a job to do, some of which was really interesting and some of which was more administrative. Never had to stay later than 5pm unless I chose to do so.
Got to do important tasks like phoning clients and drafting letters.
Drafting, speaking in a corporate environment, networking, researhc skills.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly. As the office is open-plan people were always around to talk to or ask for help and you didint need to knock on doors to speak to senior stuff such as partners.
There were a few admin issues with emails but this was mainly because the firm had only gone through a merger 2 months before. The firm had done exceptionally well to integrate the two firms in time for us.
Given lots of opportunities to meet partners and do work which will be useful in future life. Lots of presentations so we would be aware of what kind of work we want to get involved in.
Completed the assessment for a traineeship, and they often get around 70% of trainees from the summer placement.
The Culture
All the placement students got on really well, and are still in contact. The company put a lot of social activities on for us, and we were even invited to after work drinks which were not officially organised for us!
Edinburgh is always going to be expensive but a lot of things were paid for by the company.
The office is based in the centre of Edinburgh so there are lots of bars and clubs around.
There were lots of social activites. We were also invited to take part in company hockey etc.
