The Role
I have always been interested in the products and services rolls royce produce and it was a fantastic experience to get to learn about how the company operates. I really enjoyed myself on placement because I worked in an area of the company that I was interested in.
I would have liked to have got involved in team more, however the colleagues I worked with were friendly and were willing to answer any questions that I had.
The guidance I had from my manager was fantastic, he was willing to show me how to complete tasks and he answered any of my worries. Anytime I had a problem he would always find time for me and would normally find an answer within 24 hours.
Sometimes I could be really busy other times I was stuck for work to do. I would have liked a bit more work, but overall the work that I was given to do, I really enjoyed doing.
I was trusted to complete tasks at my own pace and I was allowed to set up meetings and arrange going onto site. I did feel I could have been given a bit more responsbility as sometimes tasks seemed as they were given to me just to learn from rather than to make an impact to the company.
I have developed as a professional and as an engineer. I hope to complete my final year project on a topic similar to the area of the business I have been working in. I have learnt a great deal about the activities and challenges a company like rolls royce faces which should help me to make good business decisions.
The Company
The office was a great place to work. I always felt comfortable and the staff were friendly. There were many facilities such as coffee machines that helped to make the office very hospitable.
Other than a few small problems the placement was fantastic. Rolls Royce have established a placement in which students learn and build good working relationships with other staff and students.
I believed Rolls Royce invested time and money into my learning and future development. They are a company whom really care about their staff and invest in their staff'f future skills.

The Culture
I made some good friends from all over the UK. We went out every weekend without fail and I also went to the gym with a few of them.
Bristol isn't the cheapest city to live in, however the accomodation is of far better quality than I had at university and my salary covered my costs. Nights out were reasonable and we often went to clubs which were free to get in.
Bristol has a great nightlife, loads of different clubs for different tastes and plenty of other ways to be entertained such as clubs, casinos, live music, etc.
Compared to the previous internship I had had with another company there wern't that many activities to get involved with outside of work, but I didn't mind too much because I had lots of things in Bristol to do and see in the evening.
