The Role
Mixture of ups and downs. Was rather overwhelmed in the first week and was given little time and interest by my colleagues, however this improved greatly as time went on.
I felt that I was valued relative to my position of 'intern' by my colleagues. Given I arrived with absolutely no experience of property, most members of my team were understanding but did not hold back with challenging projects relative to my experience, which I appreciated.
I was very much given my tasks to get on with and felt that I should be able to get on with as little guidance as possible. This was intimidating at first but I'm sure in teh long run it will have improved my initiative.
I have not been idle since being here!
I feel that a lot of confidence/expectance has been placed in me since day one, which was intimidating and slightly overwhelming at the start, but has improved my confidence imensely since being here and becoming more accustomed to my job role.
This has been very good experience (mainly of market comparables!).
The Company
Busier and quieter times depending on how many people were out of the office.
I have been given plenty to do however on first arriving I felt like I was in the way a bit and could not make myself useful given the few instructions I was given for a task I knew nothing about previously. Everyone has been very busy and work-focused, which at first I found daunting as I didn't want to interupt people to ask questions, but now it has made me mroe confident in my own abilities as I've become more used to using my initiative.
I'm looking forward to my mid-term review later in the placement. So far I have received little/no feedback on my work.
I would like to get to know the other sectors better, as I would definitely consider Savills as a whole. The departmental talks are helping give an insight into different areas enormously.
The Culture
We have had a few drinks after work on a couple of ocassions which has been good.
Cocktails during happy hour were pretty reasonable!
Haven't been out, but looks busy!
A few drinks evenings organised.
