The Role
I enjoyed my placement very much, I was given challenging tasks to develop my skills, It was nice to wake up every day and look forward to going to work.
I felt instantly part of the team
I worked in a small department of 16 or so people and had constant access to my manager who gave me guidance when needed.
Working in Logistics there was a constant flow of goods in and out the business so there was always work to be done.
Once my training was done I was given the responsibility to complete my work unassisted (although help was on offer if needed)
All areas of my skill range were improved; communication, organisational and time keeping skills with defiantly assist me during my final year of study, furthermore I can use everything I have learnt in future employment.
The Company
We all work very hard, but we still have a few laughs during the day.
I was given regular updates of my progression from my manager and mentor
I was given all the training for legal reasons to complete my job, as an Intern you are given all the opportunities of a full time employee.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
Because the company is so large, there are a huge range of opportunity’s in a variety of areas for a young person to pressure there career. Towards the end of my placement instruction is given as to apply for graduate opportunities.
The Culture
There was email group for all interns/grads which enabled communication between one and other; this was used to communicate events and goings on as well as sharing experiences.
I attend the University of Gloucestershire so I lived with some student mates during my placement. The cost of rent varies in Cheltenham from area to area, but you can expect to pay in a shared house between £290 - £330 per month.
Cheltenham has a huge range of clubs and pubs to tend to all needs, defiantly recommend it!
Loads, I played 5-a-side football, participated in a ‘GE Olympics’, dodge ball, 10km run and an it’s a knockout competition.
