The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, the atmosphere was great, the people were so friendly and it was very easy going. I did not feel intimidated at all which sometimes can happen. One negative was being sent on a project three hours from my home so i had to travel each day. I later was told i could have requested to change it as this was too much.
I did felt reasonably valued by my colleagues, the more work and responsibility i was given, the more valued i became and so it was kind of meritocracy based, as in, i did the work well and so received more work and thus more value.
We had buddies and champions and a constant HR rep, and they all catered for our needs or questions.
Throughout the whole placement, i probably had 2/3 days where i didn't have much to do. I thought this was pretty good based on other experiences
After the first few days, and as i completed more and more little tasks, i was given more responsibility as i believe i did the work to a very good standard and thus earnted the extra responsibility.
Communication skills will help me in future, and the way to deal with and approach and behave with clients around.
The Company
I spent 2 weeks in tax which had a very fun and light atmosphere with constant jokes flying around the desks which was great. My second placement in ERS was more project based, one was with quite a young team and so was enjoyable. Another was more senior and so there was less fun and jokes.,
very well organised and work projects lined up
