The Role
I have found the work challenging and the people very friendly. You are adapted into the environment nicely and are given alot of responsibility.
I have comfortably become one of the team and they constantly admit they will be at a loss when I am gone which is very comforting and encouraging to hear. However I do believe they struggle to trust my abilities on larger projects yet.
Very good guidance and support/training structure which has enabled me to grow into the role and learn alot for my professional development along the way. There is however alot of redundant unnecessary training for my role which is carried out as standard practice.
It wavered from day-to-day, at the beginning of my placement it took the team a while to know what to do with me and I sat twiddling my thumbs alot (I was their first intern). However as the time has gone on and as they have taken on more work utilising me as a resource I have managed to fill up my days. However you have to be prepared to work long hours, weekends and in stressful deadline heavy environments to cope with the workload in the second half of the year.
I was given alot more responsibility than I was expecting. Which was great, they trusted me to get on with the job at hand and I managed to do so. However I would have like a foothold in bigger projects but perhaps that's down to my personal ability to express the opportunity.
The skills i have picked up here have been invaluable. It is one thing learning in the classroom but applying it to everyday working life is a whole other ball game. I would say I have learnt more physical and technical production skills here that I did in my two years at uni
The Company
It was often good fun in my particular team as we stood aside from the corporate atmosphere of the company. This was good for me as it allowed me to become close friends with my team who were happy to joke around and have fun from time to time.
It was a very slow and unsure start to the placement (as again i was the first intern there) but steadily it grew into a job more so than a placement.
The company invest alot in training you straight off the mark and constantly offer you alternative and extra training sessions dependant on your personal goals.

the ability to get a job in the future leading on from the placement are nicely quite high (dependent on your performance) but for me personally it is just a stepping stone into a later job I would desire more highly.
The Culture
Amazing social scene with other Interns, just like being at university. There are intern nights out, clubs and societies and trips to different areas of the country/region for weekends away.
The housing/accomodation is generally pretty cheap and the areas in Swindon for social nightlife are also the same. There isn't a lot to do here so you'd have to pay to do something more specific but acceptably priced.
A few low end clubs and bars which were frequented most weeks.
Lots of societies for sports, publishing, volunteering and charity work available.
