The Role
The internship was very enjoyable, the people in my department were always very friendly and made me feel welcome from my first day
They always took my ideas on board if I ever had a suggestion to speed up or improve a process.
My line manager was great she really encouraged my own personal development by allowing me to attend training courses.
Of course there were times during the internship in which I did not have much to do, however this is due to the summer months being very slow in the banking sector towards September when the schools opened again the office was very busy and fast paced
Alot, responsible for managing the risks involved during various projects, often managing my manager and other senior members of staff
This experience is extremely valuable in terms of a future career
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great. Often alot of banter was going on. Especially on a monday after the weekend of football.
From a HR perspective not too great as this was the first year of the internship. However our comments have been taken on board and it looks like the internship will be much better organised by next year
Like I mentioned I was allowed to go on training courses, visit other sites with paid travel expenses.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
As this was the first year of interns there was a slight confusuion about progession onto the Grad Scheme, but my manager offered me a job based on my own performance
The Culture
As some of us were busy we managed to have luch together twice a week, being in Milton Keynes was difficult as some of us drove home to London so were not able to have after work drinks.
I lived at home, socialising wasn't too bad of course don;t expect student prices but they are reasonable for a nigh out. Wetherspoons around the corner is always a steal for lunchtime drinks.
I lived at home so the nights I went out were Fridays its mainly professionals so dont expect any troubles
Played football on a weekly basis with some of the guys from my team, there is a Rugby team and Football team to represent too.
