    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thought that ProspectSoft presented me with opportunities that I wouldn't have been able to have elsewhere. Being an SME, ProspectSoft puts a lot of emphasis into its placement scheme, as it is the main way they recruit. This being the case, we were treated as real members of the team, and were given real jobs in different areas of the business, which directly impacted on the company. The projects given were varied, and I was given opportunities that I didn't think I would have the been given when I started!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • With around 70% of placements returning to ProspectSoft after their final year of university, most of the employees at the company have been in your situation before and know exactly how you feel. You never have to look far if you are stuck on something, and that alone fills you with a lot of confidence. I certainly felt welcomed right from the assessment day, and that was something that really stood out for me!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I feel that ProspectSoft have got the perfect balance of support and guidance. To a certain extent, you are left to your own devices when trying your hand in the different areas of the business, as it is is the best way to learn. However, at the same time, there is always a director/employee to give you the guidance that you need to excel in what you are doing.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Speaking from my own experience, ProspectSoft gave me a variety of different projects throughout the year - there was never a dull moment and I always had something to do. When I was looking for a placement during my second year of university, I didn't want a job where I was sat looking at the clock. I felt that the whole reason of doing a placement was to gain valuable experience and get a taste of a working environment, and at ProspectSoft, I definitely felt that I achieved this!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Right from the off, I was treated as a real member of the company and not just somebody on work experience. As mentioned above, I really wanted a job where I could gain the most experience possible, and I definitely made the right decision in joining ProspectSoft. I started my placement in August, which is arguably one of our busiest months, so we were given real responsibility from the start. I also was included in key areas of the business, from the organisation of exhibitions to the recruitment of the following years placement, all of which play a vital role in ProspectSoft's success.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • ProspectSoft will definitely assist my future studies and beyond! Not only do I feel it has improved my general skills, but I feel it has also boosted my employability! I feel that having ProspectSoft on my CV along with the variety of different activities that I did throughout my placement year will undoubtedly make me more attractive to future employers.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in my office was fantastic! Whilst everyone was very keen to complete the wide array of different daily tasks that they had on their to-do lists, and continue to push towards ProspectSoft's success, no one was scared to have to have a laugh. Unlike larger companies, everybody knows everybody, and I think that certainly helps to create that 'ProspectSoft family' feeling.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I felt that my placement was very well organised from start to finish. We started in August with a month's intensive training to get us all up to scratch, and to ensure that we were able to get stuck in straight away. We were divided into our specific job roles, and sat down with our director/supervisors to set out and put together a plan of action.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned above, we started off our Placement with a month's training. What I noticed straight away was the dedication the company has towards its placement scheme to ensure that we got off to the best start possible. The training was taken by different members of the company, from current placements and managers to directors!

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I think ProspectSoft would be a fantastic company to work for in the future. The people here are fantastic, and the software that we provide is amazing. ProspectSoft has recently had their 'Big Launch' event where they have released its new software, and I can only see the company going from strength to strength.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Without trying to sound too cliché, ProspectSoft definitely has a work hard play hard attitude! The years hard work has been broken up by various social events; numerous nights out, a trip to Thorpe Park, Company bowling, TGIs/Nandos after work followed by the cinema, paint balling and countless games of football. If you fancy doing something, all it takes if for you to send a company wide email and there will always be people who reply!!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Having lived at home throughout my placement year, I cannot comment on the cost of living. However, most of the social events either happened in Oxford or Wycombe, which, in my opinion, are both reasonably priced!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Stokenchurch itself will not go down in history for its amazing nightlife scene, but with Oxford just down the road, this has never posed a problem! Being a university city, Oxford is not short of bars, restaurants or clubs so you will always have a good night out!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As mentioned above, there has never been a lack of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work, there is something always going on! It has often been the case this year that if you propose an idea, there are always going to be volunteers who will want to get involved.
