The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my work placement with Lidl. I learnt so much within a short space of time and was given responsibility quite quickly throughout the year
As I asked so many questions and was pushy to learn new things constantly I showed I was willing to work therefore was given plenty of support and encouragement by management within the Bridgend region.
Within store it's non-stop. Time goes very quickly, you're never bored as there's always things to be doing
I was given a lot of responisbility throughout this placement year. I faced many challenges along the way but enjoy a challenge and worked through each as they year went on
I definitely wouldn't change this placement for anything and am so glad I chose to do a placement year. The experience with the company has been invaluable and I would recommend a placement year with Lidl to anybody. The skills you learn and develop will be with you for life especially if your career lies within retail as mine hopefully does.
The Company
I have worked with a number of different people/teams over this placement year. However if you have the right attitude, are willing to learn then you will get along fine with everybody.
My year was well structured. I followed the general outline for the year however adapted it as and when to suit the direction I myself was going in.

Hopefully I have secured a job with Lidl once I have graduated. Bridgend will determine what exactly I'll be doing next however I aspire to become a District Manager therefore would like to become a Trainee District Manager.
The Culture
As we were located at different locations within the UK we didn't really get chance to socialise as placement students. Whilst in Head Office however I socialised with two others due to being there at the same time. Towards the end of the placement we had a presentation/fun day where I met with all the other placement students which was interesting to find out what they had been up to over the year.
Lidl will generally locate you wherever you choose. I chose to stay at home therefore was able to save a lot throughout the year.
