The Role
There is no choice to which department you will be in, so it varies from intern to intern. It may be a back office function that does not really feel like you are in an investment bank.
Team not very sociable and didn't really notice what I was doing. Only given ad hoc work even though kept asking for more challenging work.
Good programme co-ordinatior within Ops but manager too busy to spend time training and explaining work for me.
Not enough work and work that was given was very mundane and not challenging.
Given same responsibilty as team, however work was not of a high level and very routine.
No theory used, only personal skills.
The Company
Very quiet and not very sociable, everyone kept their heads down.
Good co-ordinator and training within operations.
Seen more as a temp there to do ad-hoc tasks than an intern that wanted to learn about the company.
Subsidised Canteen
Depends on if you had a say to which department within ops you would be placed.
The Culture
Drinks most fridays with interns. No company socials.
Standard for London
Lots of pubs and clubs in both Canary Wharf and the city.
Not really as an intern. Although it looked like there were more opportunities for full time employees.
