The Role
The placement was very enjoyable from start to finish. I left the placement knowing that I want to work in a similar environment.
From the outset I was entrusted with a wide range of work. The work that I undertook was praised and I was thanked for my contributions. The whole department made me feel very welcome and by the end of the two weeks I felt like one of the team.
My supervisor ensured that I was involved in a variety of work. They also provided continuous feedback.
I was given a wide range of work however I never felt under pressure by having too much to do. The balance was perfect.
I was given more responsibility than I expected. Although the work was not going straight to a client, I was involved in important work which was part of a bigger project.
I now have a fuller understanding of the day to day running of a law firm. The placement has improved my time management and attention to detail skills, which will benefit my future career.
The Company
The office atmosphere was relaxed yet professional. I never felt intimidated to ask for help.
The strongest part of the placement is the structure. We had a timetable to follow which included time at desk, practice presentations and social events. The placement strikes the perfect balance.
The firm clearly places a lot of emphasis on the placement. One area where it could improve would be in developing legal skills. Other placements have dedicated time to legal writing and time management.
