The Role
You have a chance to sit down the your line manager and togther set objectives for your time there, interns are also given several different people that they can turn in a problem aside from there line manager.
I couldn't have to much responsibility because of the confidentiality of the business that Lloyds does, but considering this, I was given as much responsibility was possible.
There were seminars with people from departments throughout the bank to ensure that all the interns had a good understanding of what the bank did as a whole, beyond our individual roles. I also learnt things about finance, the working world, and networking that will be valuable in my future whether I pursue a career in this sector or not.
The Company
Contrary to what you might expect from a bank, there was a fun atmosphere and there were chnces to go out with colleagues and other interns on many occasions.
I was given a timetable to what was expected of me before the placement started, the intern management team and my line manager made regular checks on my progress, and there was always something for me to be doing.
An opening event, regualar inter-department presentations, online seminars, catch-up events, CV building opportunities. I hd plenty of changes to work on my personal development whilst at Lloyds.
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
I have the chance to return next summer if I would like to, and from there I will assessed for a place on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
We have an online sharepoint where we can find each others contact details, there was a volunteering challenge so we could work together, and the opening and catch-up events helped us to get to know one another.
Being in London it was quite expensive but the wages for interns in London compared to interns elsewhere reflected that.
Being in the middle of London, there's someting for everyone, what more can you sk for.
We had a volunteering challenge to raise as much money as we could for Save the Children, not much beyond that but if you use your initiative you wont get bored.
