The Role
I really valued this experience and have few complaints about the firm, but I didn't enjoy the job itself.
Colleagues were friendly and considerate but too busy to get to know them much.
We were expected to work a lot of things out ourselves but there was always someone to ask if you were unsure of things
It was about equal measures of good balance, too busy and bored.
The nature of audit means that your work is always reviewed by someone else, so they weren't hesitant about handing out proper tasks including sending me to visit client staff to ask questions I had only just learnt the meaning of.
There was a little room for improvement, but not much. I learnt a lot about using Excel professionally, how accounting works and how to communicate in a professional environment.
The Company
In the office itself there wasn't much of a lively atmosphere, although we almost always had lunch together, which was nice. The internship was arranged with so many social events that you had to pick which ones you liked the look of best.
There is very little they could improve on here. The recruitment was great and the induction was good. The downsides are due to the nature of audit work. There isn't a great deal going on in summer which can make it difficult to find useful work for interns to do.
Difficult to say. These things came naturally on the job.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I didn't personally enjoy the job, but I'm sure most interns did and I would recommend it to friends if I thought they were a good fit.
The Culture
There were a heck of a lot of semi-official intern-arranged events.
London. Need I say more?
I only went out once apart from just for drinks. It was pretty good but I was too tired from the internship.
There was a networks/societies fair which I didn't attend because I was commuting a long way to a client site. The last day of the internship was a corporate social responsibility day of community work.
